if my parents don’t deserve my respect, they won’t get it. i’m not going to respect someone who makes light of my insecurities and does not take me seriously. my parents, like everyone else i meet, have had to earn my respect. most of the time i respect them now, but i make my own choices and they don’t own me anymore.
